Manufacturing at 2nm nodes demands significantly more energy and generates higher greenhouse gas emissions than older processes. Water consumption is another challenge, especially in regions already facing scarcity.¹

Global collaboration is indispensable. Chips cross borders dozens of times during production, so the industry thrives on international partnerships. Standardizing sustainability metrics across regions and sharing best practices are critical for a unified ESG approach.⁸

The semiconductor industry’s commitment to ESG reflects its recognition of the profound impact chips have on society and the environment. Embedding sustainability into operations will not only mitigate environmental challenges but also enhance resilience and global competitiveness. A smarter, greener semiconductor future is within reach.
